Description

Discover Holly Black's epic bestselling The Folk of the Air series in this complete e-book collection which includes: The Cruel Prince, The Lost Sisters, The Wicked King, and The Queen of Nothing.

Of course I want to be like them. They're beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.

And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.

Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.

To win a place at the Court, she must defy him--and face the consequences.

In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Holly Black comes the stunning The Folk of the Air trilogy filled with twists and enchantment, as one girl learns the meaning of true power when she finds herself caught in a web of royal faerie intrigue.

I like the storyline of the book. There was a few things about the way the writing rolled. I was not a huge fan of, but for the most part, I really liked the storyline of this book. I loved the twisting. I love the seat I love the ever changing, guessing of what was going to happen next..

honestly, i don’t know what i was expecting from this series but it wasn’t this. there was SO much i skipped because i got so uninterested in anything except Cardan and Jude’s interactions. Even those were difficult to get through. what a toxic relationship based solely on lust. He had no genuine interest in her, especially not enough for them to declare love for each other. and Taryn??? what the heck kind of sister does what she did. to allow Locke to seduce her sister so she could prove that she is willing to suffer for him. on top of all her other betrayals. what a strange strange series this was. had a lot of potential, the world itself was wonderfully designed and magical. the creatures were well thought out. it was just the characters and the plot that fell short. there was no character development, they all stayed just as greedy, toxic, and annoying as they were when they all hated each other.

The books just keep going with little resolution. I keep reading and waiting for some climactic event but it just continues to give more fluff and little entertainment. Also, the characters motives never really evolve and are limited to basic emotions (ie greed, gluttony, envy)

Although the ending is kinda cliché and disappointing, the first and second book were really interesting. The schemes and character developments really got me hooked

I really enjoyed the twists and turns of this trilogy! I have read all three books in a week, as I couldn’t get enough of it. The characters, their flaws and the level of unpredictability came me enchanted throughout!
  • Hated to love it, third book had me obsessed.

Great series to get you hooked even if you find the beginning to not be your cup of tea. It was a series I hated to love but by the end I was solely devoting all my free time to make it to the conclusion of the story. When I first started reading I was impressed with the world building and fantastical laws of faerie land. I wasn’t really impressed with the way things were written at first though. It seemed rushed and not detailed. As the books went on, the descriptions and storytelling got better and better. By the third book I could tell how much the author had grown and I enjoyed the last book in the series immensely. The characters were rather annoying to me throughout the series. However, you could tell that, at least the main protagonists, grew as people through their trials. The romance aspect was interesting and by the last book I was rooting for them all the way! This series started off choppy to me but by the end I was cheering on all the characters and dying to read each page to see what would happen next. I’d definitely recommend reading this series!!
