This novelette cracked me up! For anyone who has ever known a drama queen, laugh it up! The style reminds me a lot of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Ernest.

Don't make the mistake of reading this little story with too much Seriousness; it is entirely Work of Satire, and given Austen's age (14) when she wrote it, it's a remarkably well-executed specimen of her writing. Be ready to giggle--that's the intent!

Wow! It is hard to believe this could possibly be written by the same person who wrote Pride and Prejudice Emma etc. I have never heard of this book before. Maybe it was a young Jane Austen. Who knows? I kept reading just because you have to watch the train wreck. Weird!

Not bad for a book written in her youth! Even tho it's incomparable to pride & prejudice and the other favorites she has written, it was an enjoyable piece!

Laura is not the usual Jane Austin heroine. Everything she writes about In her letters is the wrong thing to have done and she's proud of it because she doesn't seem to know it's wrong. The antithesis of the character in Persuasion. I couldn't but shake my head at her. Until I began to find it funny in a sarcastic sort of way. This book is not necessarily for the 'serious' reader. ;-)
