“An epic story of redemption, discovery and cool speculative sci-fi.”—USA Today

“If you loved The Martian, you’ll go crazy for Weir’s latest.”—The Washington Post

Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission—and if he fails, humanity and the earth itself will perish.

Except that right now, he doesn’t know that. He can’t even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it.

All he knows is that he’s been asleep for a very, very long time. And he’s just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

His crewmates dead, his memories fuzzily returning, Ryland realizes that an impossible task now confronts him. Hurtling through space on this tiny ship, it’s up to him to puzzle out an impossible scientific mystery—and conquer an extinction-level threat to our species.

And with the clock ticking down and the nearest human being light-years away, he’s got to do it all alone.

Or does he?

An irresistible interstellar adventure as only Andy Weir could deliver, Project Hail Mary is a tale of discovery, speculation, and survival to rival The Martian—while taking us to places it never dreamed of going.

I don’t read books often but this book I was immediately hooked even on page 1. You really feel like you’re in the story with the main character and finding out things as you go with him. The middle of the book can feel a bit longer if you’re not super familiar with science terms but nothing too overwhelming, again I don’t typically read. It’s worth it to stick to the end though as I really enjoyed this book. Great read from a non reader!

I wasn’t expecting much when i started this book, I was hopeful I would enjoy it as a science fiction novel but man did it shock me how wonderful it was. By the end I was so invested in the characters and the story that I was genuinely sad to finish the book. Absolutely 10/10 narrative experience and definitely in my top favorite books of all time now.

I loved this book. Characters are well-developed, the plot has twists and turns, and the science was very interesting. I haven’t read a sci-fi book I’ve liked this much in ages. (So impressed that I just purchased Andy Weir’s whole catalogue!) I hope you’ll like it as well as I do.
  • Phenomenal sci-fi, a little heavy on the sci

Project Hail Mary is a fantastic sci-fi novel about risk, hope, friendship and the fate of humanity. Rocky is a character that’ll stick with me for a long time. The only flaw is how technical and dense the science can get. It’s necessary, but it makes the book feel (at times) a bit repetitive. In my opinion, The Martian struck a slightly better balance with the science, but the companionship you feel in this novel is truly remarkable.

This book reads like a movie. Although it won Audiobook of the year, I’d say the written form does it justice.
