Where do I begin? I feel that the overall story line was a bit of a stretch and things were rushed and kind of forced. There were far to many overly mushy moments where the phrases "oh, Katherine" and "oh, Jace" were abused. The story was also very anticlimactic, there was no major build up to anything just a few couple spats that comprised the entire plot. It was obvious from the very beginning what the outcome would. Mystery solved! I've ready many many Sandra Brown books but this was a major disappointment.

I always enjoy reading a Sandra Brown book and this one did not disappoint. Katherine Adams vowed never to make her sister Mary's mistake. Mary married into the wealthy and powerful Manning family and it quickly turned into a nightmare. Then on the day that her husband dies Mary dies after giving birth to their daughter Allison. Mary leaves the care of Allison to Katherine fearing the Manning's influence on the baby. Katherine sells everything and soon disappears with Allison. Just as Katherine and Allison settle into their new life Jace Manning shows up at her door for Allison. Jace Manning grew up as a pampered but forgotten child of the Manning but made a life for himself. Can Katherine trust that Jace is only their to protect Allison or is he just another conniving ruthless Manning?
