The German city of Potsdam is located in the Brandenburg region near to Berlin. Potsdam is best known for the palaces and parks of its royal past. It sits on the edge of Lake Untersee, giving visitors an idyllic view of the lake and the surrounding countryside. Lake Untersee meets with Lake Obersee, which is connected with Lake Havel by an 18th-century stone bridge. The Glienicke Bridge which connects Potsdam with its neighboring Berlin was used to exchange prisoners during the Cold War.
