  • Finally!

Alcorn writes like a pastor, but cites like a theologian. The truth is, the Christian understanding of Heaven has lost its Judaic roots by being swept up in Western philosophical ideas. The physical-necessity of the after-life is the prominent hope of the Early Church, but has been almost completely replaced by a neo-Platonic, foggy hopy of a self-serving virtual reality where we will either float on clouds eating cream cheese, or drone endlessly in an eternal church service. This book calls us back to that which we already long for—a restored New Earth, with God, and without corruption.

Outside of the Bible, this book is the greatest book I've ever read. Truly life changing. I've never been instructed about Heaven like this book does. Because of I believe, ignorance, Bible teachers never took the time to explore the scriptures enough on Heaven and use logical conclusions to come up with a more realistic view of what Heaven would be like. Randy has spent years of research and has done just that. Painting a very provable image that encourages believers to look forward to not only the current but the New Heavens and New Earth. This should be a must in every Believers library.

esp. liked the fact that in the inteo Randy states that everyrhing in this book is Bible based to the best of his reading. not everyone will agree with him and that's ok. as a pastor i have sat backed and said now hold the phone. after re-reading the part i had trouble with and reading the passage he gave it came togeather. this is NOT A FAST READ. Please take your time and take it in small bites. YOu will enjoy it more this way. AND KEEP YOUR BIBLE HANDY. you are going to need it.

I just finished reading this book through the fifth time. I find it both fascinating & factual, as I note scriptural references that validate the books conclusions. I will undoubtedly read & refer to this book more in the future. I am a pastor, and have served as such for some 60 years. Thank you for writing this book. I pray it will bless all who read it as it has me. Gene DeWitt

I really, really like this book and highly recommend it. As the title indicates, it's all about Heaven. You need to have an open mind, and you should read it from start to finish. I bounced around through different parts of the book, but went back and read it the right way. I normally don't skip portions of a book, but it's difficult with this book. My curiousity got the better of me, and I first skipped chunks of the New Earth theology section. This 500 pager with tiny font offers answers to a number of topics including work, our bodies, relationships, animals, and so much more. Do I agree with everything Randy says? No, but he has a very convincing argument backed by his interpretation of the Word. It certainly makes me think. What I really enjoy about this book though is that it makes me smile and gets me excited about my future home. I can imagine. "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Revelation 21:4

After reading this book, I feel that the author didn't fully develop some of the ideas he put forward. Many points make sense, at least from my limited human perspective. The book is punctuated with scripture, which is good, however it seemed to me that he was more concerned with the fictional writings of other authors - especially C. S. Lewis. I was hoping that this read would be more biblically based.

I thought it was fantastic, a lot of it was Alcorn's interpretation, but I liked his thoughts. Read it and form your own interpretation. Either way you will see heaven from a different prospective!
