Description

Description 'Prozac & Prayer: a brief memoir of madness' is a young woman's memoir of dealing with a type of bipolar disorder. Starting in 2007 just before she was diagnosed, she uses poetry and photos as well as prose to tell her story which includes a suicide bid and subsequent arrest on the Forth Road Bridge in April 2009. Told with bare honesty and boldness this book will have you gripped from the first line. It will make you think and provoke questions about the very real stigma of mental health in Scotland. A challenging read. About the Author Sharon Jones was born in Dunfermline in 1977. The family then moved to Livingston where she grew up but as she has lived in Edinburgh for almost a decade, Sharon considers the city her home. Prozac & Prayer: a brief memoir of madness is Sharon's first book. It's very different to her preferred genre of fiction and surprising that it is her first published offering. Sharon is passionate about helping to change society's attitudes to mental health and will be writing more on this issue and speaking out in the coming months. Having dreamed of being an author since she was seven, Sharon is delighted to finally embark on a professional writing career.
