Excellent classical tale by a master of Alaska stories. Raw, not for sensitive readers or for younger children.

From domesticated to wild, a transforming story of a dog stolen by men, put into service to the goldrush of the Yukon, abused, work hardened, and triumphant. Loyal to his new master, lured into the wolf pack, shrewd leader and sire of a breed of wolves that roamed the forests of the Yukon. A well written story.

I always love reading this story. The way the author paints a picture in your head really encompasses the environment.

Wonderful tale of adventure.

I really don’t like this book. It was sad but hard to read. And not because it’s sad. Because it takes forever to make it to the climax. I guess recommend.

The prose was excellent, but certainly this is not a children’s book.

A bit gory at the end but astonishing book!

The beauty & ferocity of the language of Jack London holds up through these many years. A thing both mournful and triumphant. Buck is my first and forever dog.

If you love dogs/animals, don’t read. Made my soft heart very sad.
