Description

In his daring and chilling first novel, #1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor draws us into a sinister labyrinth of political intrigue and international terrorism, serving up an explosive cocktail of unrelenting action as one man is pushed to the edge.

On the snow-covered slopes of Utah, the President of the United States has been kidnapped and his Secret Service detail massacred. Only one agent has survived—ex-Navy SEAL Scot Harvath. He doesn’t buy the official line that Middle Eastern terrorists are behind the attack and begins his own campaign to find the truth and exact revenge. But now, framed for murder by a sinister cabal, Harvath takes his fight to the towering mountains of Switzerland—and joins forces with beautiful Claudia Mueller of the Swiss Federal Attorney’s Office. Together they must brave the subzero temperatures and sheer heights of treacherous Mount Pilatus—where their only chance for survival lies inside the den of the most lethal team of professional killers the world has ever known…

Good plot, well written, but a bit far fetched.
  • Predictable and elementary

The whole plot was revealed in the first few chapters. The politics was both unnecessary and ideologically partisan. The plot and dialogue was predictable and elementary.
  • Solid Spy Novel

Enjoyable characters and good plot intrigue with a fast pace that doesn’t over complicate things. Definitely will dip back into this series in the future.
  • Great story. Couldn’t put it down.

Entertaining enough to read to the end but doubt I’ll read any more Brad Thor books. This is my favorite genre and this author came highly recommended by multiple radio hosts but writing for me was sophmorish and some of the similes were a stretch. Maybe ok for a beach read but not for those who like an unpredictable thriller.

I usually don’t read these kind of books but this series was recommended to me by a friend. The first few chapters were kind of slow in my opinion but after that, the next thing I knew I’m half way through the book. I laughed, gasped and cursed at this book which means the author did an amazing g job pulling the reader in. I highly recommend this book to anyone.
