I love following a family line. You get to see and know them grow and help each other yet live their own lives

Love this book. Regardless that the modern, bra burning, don’t open the door for me, look at me I’m a strong independent women may think, it is a period piece. The reader needs to remember this is what it was like in that age. With that being said! Great book! One of the first I ever read by Jude Devereaux and that was in 1996 and here it is 2023 and I’m still reading her books!

Yes, the reader is shown why Gavin is the way he is. That doesn’t make him less responsible for his actions even as Alice is responsible for hers. Alan, Stephen, Raine, and Joss are the real heroes of the story. Gavin does have his “save the cat” moments, but not enough to balance out the way he stomps on kittens, metaphorically. The writing is good. I love Jude. It’s just that if you can’t love the love interest, the romance doesn’t work.

I don't understand why this book has such good reviews. This is a horrible book that disrespects women, marriage, and has an awful abrupt ending. The bickering and fighting over the same stuff got old too. Save your money.

I read this book the first time in 1981 and I loved it just as much today. Great book.
