Environmental science is an interdisciplinary science in the real sense. To appreciate nature and its vagaries, one requires an intimate knowledge of chemical, physical and biological sciences. It is presumed that the reader is quite conversant with the fundamental principles of analytical chemistry and that he is primarily interested to understand their applications in solving problems of the environment. The main aim of this book is to explain important aspects of pollution and explain the principles and outline of methods of analysis. Only those methods practical to the Indian environment are considered. This book is intended for the practising chemical, mechanical, civil and public health engineers, industrial chemists, research students and students undergoing postgraduation in environmental chemistry.
