I adored this book. It adds a refreshing and dark new layer to The Rise of Skywalker, with Luke and Lando’s chemistry guiding it. Highly recommended for any Star Wars fan.

While it was a joy to visit with Lando and Luke, the story took tooling to coalesce and mature. Once it did, it was, at times, confusing despite also being predictable. More, it was difficult to read (reconcile) about Luke in this story in light of the version of Luke we were given in The Last Jedi. Furthermore, it was surprising to read a story so engaged with Luke and Lando without some measure of Leia and Han being mentioned. How is it Luke or Lando don’t mention them? At all? This book is certainly worth a read but I can’t envision me ever reading this again. Disney still seems unable to capture the written magic we all enjoyed from the authors who wrote the, now, “legends”stories. “For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times, before the Empire.”-Kenobi

Finally! Master Luke has returned. This us the first novel in the new cannon to feature Luke and it does not disappoint. This is a bridge novel between ROTJ and TFA and finally sheds some light as to what our heroes (Luke and Lando) are up to. It also peels the onion a bit on Rise of Skywalker while not a favorite of mine this book allows it to make a little more sense. It also dives into some great history of the Sith. Overall a fantastic book and maybe my new favorite cannon novel. More of this please!
