Annoying

The author really wants you to dislike Theodosia. She’s whiny, selfish, and most of all a complete jerk. I can’t stand her.
Wonderful

Just leaving this review to say DO NOT READ THE OTHER REVIEWS. Some idiot decided to reveal a major plot twist in their review which ruined the entire second book for me. Do yourself a favor and don’t read past this one.
Amazing YA novel!

This was a GREAT sequel to the Ash Princess. I loved how during the whole book you expect the main character to kill the Kaiser, and it ends up being Cress, whom everyone thought was weak and only cared about being Kaiserin. Incredible plot twist! Great author, and i also loved the conclusion💕
Was not the best could have been better

After reading the first book I expected a lot from the second book and the author. Although the writing isn’t the best in my opinion to keep me captured the story line and plot kept me intrigued. It started going down hill when I realized that the main character isn’t someone I’m rooting for. I expected her to become a strong female leader after all she had gone through in the first book but she isn’t and I suppose it’s to be expected of a 16 year old queen with no country or people but I expected her to be tougher and not let anyone take her for granted. I accepted her as she was though but where the author really lost me as a fan was the plot twist where the main character wasn’t the one who ended up killing the King. This was a huge mistake in my opinion and killed the whole story for me. Really disappointed. I can see where the story is leading but overall the main character is one of the weakest and simple minded I have ever read and the story line could have been one of the greatest. Not to mention to way she came into her powers was the biggest anticlimactic thing in the whole book. Could have been great. Never reading another book by this author again.
