"This remarkable book reveals what inspired Patrisse's visionary and courageous activism and forces us to face the consequence of the choices our nation made when we criminalized a generation. This book is a must-read for all of us." - Michelle Alexander, New York Times bestselling author of The New Jim Crow

A poetic and powerful memoir about what it means to be a Black woman in America—and the co-founding of a movement that demands justice for all in the land of the free.

Raised by a single mother in an impoverished neighborhood in Los Angeles, Patrisse Khan-Cullors experienced firsthand the prejudice and persecution Black Americans endure at the hands of law enforcement. For Patrisse, the most vulnerable people in the country are Black people. Deliberately and ruthlessly targeted by a criminal justice system serving a white privilege agenda, Black people are subjected to unjustifiable racial profiling and police brutality. In 2013, when Trayvon Martin’s killer went free, Patrisse’s outrage led her to co-found Black Lives Matter with Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi.

Condemned as terrorists and as a threat to America, these loving women founded a hashtag that birthed the movement to demand accountability from the authorities who continually turn a blind eye to the injustices inflicted upon people of Black and Brown skin.

Championing human rights in the face of violent racism, Patrisse is a survivor. She transformed her personal pain into political power, giving voice to a people suffering inequality and a movement fueled by her strength and love to tell the country—and the world—that Black Lives Matter.

When They Call You a Terrorist is Patrisse Khan-Cullors and asha bandele’s reflection on humanity. It is an empowering account of survival, strength and resilience and a call to action to change the culture that declares innocent Black life expendable.

Hi babe! How are you?! I can’t tell you how amazing it is to see you, even though we have different views!! Love, the BLM rioters are fighting for something much bigger than anything you will ever believe in, and I’m white. My father, however, is black, and I’m proud of that part of me. They are fighting for the right to be treated as human beings, not as an enemy. I love you so much, and I know you will do such fantastic amazing things, once you stop being racist! Also, are you homophobic? Because I’m happy to argue with you about that too! Whatever makes you happy, because love, you are worth the world. You are truly amazing, but please work on your views of people of color!

This book tells about Cullor upbringing and how her terrorist ideology was molded. She portrays her and her family as victims. Her dad should not have quitted and abandon his family and too bad he didn’t realize his presence was more important than a paycheck. Ms. Cullors’ mom seem like a strong, hard working parent who accepted the bed she lay in. Of course, Ms. Cullors demonized the cops while giving a free pass to the neighborhood rapists, arsonists, burglaries, robbers, absentee fathers, community race hustler activists, shady politicians, murderers, gang bangers and drug dealers. Ms. Cullors is a victim activist who makes her wealth off police mistakes and racism like a female version of Al Sharpton and Jesses Jackson mixed with communist tendencies. Sadly, Her defund the police, abolish prisons and thirst for lawlessness is a huge detriment and harm to all black and brown communities throughout the world.

Her writing style is like poetry, it reminds me of Pearl Cleage; a story well told with these amazing deep insights and truths that are universal. It was so organic, so real time real talk relatable. Like having an extraordinary conversation that you hate to see come to an end.

The fact of the matter is, no matter how BLM began, despite wether it was started on a lie or not, a movement highlighting the racial disparities within the US is necessary. A movement standing against these American institutions, which are so ingrained with racism that even when there’s video proof people still want to ignore it to protect their own fragile ideas of themselves and how they individually fit into a society built upon dehumanizing several groups of people, was bound to happen when the blatant disregard for our own history and the direct effects our nation’s actions have had on marginalized people continues. The true terrorists are within a tyrannical government that lets a violent group abuse its power and then label their malevolence as “Law and Order”.

BLM is based on a lie and ignores the facts. They don’t care about black people or about the truth. They just want the money and cause chaos.
