Description

New York Times bestselling author Jill Shalvis returns to Heartbreaker Bay with a fun and festive holiday novella!

It’s Christmas Eve and Rory Andrews is desperate to get home to the family she hasn’t seen in years. Problem is, her only ride to Lake Tahoe comes in the form of the annoyingly handsome Max Stranton, and his big, goofy, lovable dog Carl.

Hours stuck in a truck with the dead sexy Max sounds like a fate worse than death (not), but Rory’s out of options. She’s had a crush on Max since high school and she knows he’s attracted to her, too. But they have history… and Max is the only one who knows why it went south.

They’ve done a good job of ignoring their chemistry so far, but a long road trip in a massive blizzard might be just what they need to face their past… and one steamy, snowy night is all it takes to bring Max and Rory together at last.

A sweet, sexy temptation to put you in the Christmas spirit! Rory Andrews has finally agreed to go home for Christmas for the first time in years, but she wasn’t counting on her ride back to Tahoe being with the very sexy Max Stranton! Max and Rory have history behind them. She crushed on him in high school while he was a bit of a jocky jerk, yet only he seems to know why he has seemed mad at her over the years. Hours together in his truck on stormy roads lead to plenty of time to catch up and iron out old grudges, but will the chemistry they can’t seem to deny come alive on that one snowy night?

Wow! Great little story. Really love the chemistry between Max and Rory. Also read the first two chapters of Archer and Ellie story. Can't wait for the rest.

We're not even over the river and through the woods, yet, and I'm already hearing the countdown to Christmas. What helps me keep the anticipation and enjoy the lead-up to the season? Holiday reads. And when they're written by some of my favorite authors, I'm a really happy reader. I've fallen in love with Jill Shalvis' Heartbreaker Bay series. This tight-knit little community of characters are Jill's typical folk, smart, savvy, funny, and passionate, and they all have a backstory, which makes them even more interesting. Rory and Max have history, and, even though their past left them distant and harboring less than friendly feelings, they currently have no shortage of spark and sizzle going on between them. One snowstorm, the close confines of a car, and a Christmas Eve trip gives them nothing to do but talk about the past, and to see each other as they are now. I loved everything about this sweet little read (although I have to say that Carl the Doberman really steals the show), and happily recommend this 5-star feel-good holiday novella as one to add to your seasonal reading. And, although you don't have to have read the rest of the series, why wouldn't you? Grab them all, read them, and enjoy.

Truly one of my favorite series of the year, the Heartbreaker Bay stories can be read on their own, but you’ll benefit from starting at the beginning. The holidays have arrived, and our little group of friends at the Pacific Pier Building are preparing for their Christmas. One of Willa’s strays at the South Bark Mutt Shop, Rory, is heading back to visit her home near Tahoe for the first time in years. Max works for Archer’s Security firm in the building, and has been asked by Willa to give Rory a ride home, since he lives in the same town. Neither is thrilled by the prospect. The bonus in the ride is Max’s dog Carl, thoroughly enamored of Rory and able to receive all her affection freely. These two are adorable together: Rory is slowly coming in to her own with gentle acceptance and caring from Willa, she’s working, going to school and planning for the next chapter. She’s got an inner strength that she can’t see, and her continual no-shows at Christmas have her mother, step-father and half-sisters disappointed. But she left for good reasons (at the time) and while things aren’t easy, they are offering her opportunities. Max never knew the extent of Rory’s story, believing the rumors about her, blaming her for his own subsequent troubles. The snowy and slow ride offers them a chance to talk, ok first they sniped and osnapped at one another, then they talked. But moments and revelations in the confined space, combined with Rory’s willingness to search for Carl in knee deep (or better) snow, refusing to take a ride to town with a passing motorist when the battery in Max’s truck died, and her refusal to allow Max to brush off her questions, or refuse to hear her apology showed her growth, strength and innate goodness. I loved the connection between these two: one that started in high school that neither acknowledged, and has managed to slow burn through the years. Shalvis has brought two secondary characters and an adorable 100 lb. dog that wants to be in the middle of everything (dog owners will surely recognize this behavior) who uses every ounce of his doggie personality to impress himself on Rory and Max, not to mention readers. These are people that you wish the best for, that you want to know, and most of all – their tales, while occasionally heartbreaking in the past, bring plenty of present smiles. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via Edelweiss for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

I just finished reading an ARC of ONE SNOWY NIGHT, as well as the excerpts for the stories that go along with this book. I canNOT wait to read SWEET LITTLE LIES (Heartbreaker Bay#1), TROUBLE WITH MISTLETOE (Heartbreaker Bay #2), and ACCIDENTALLY ON PURPOSE(Heartbreaker Bay #3). They are all stories that pull you in from the start. ONE SNOWY NIGHT was a short, quick read that I couldn't put down once I started reading it. It had me outright laughing at the characters banter, my husband just shook his head at me. Talk about two stubborn characters that don't think the other one likes them, but yet the each secretly have the hots for the other, and have since high school, while simultaneously thinking the other hates them. This ends with a HEA on many levels, after one snowy night of traveling. I look forward to reading the other stories as soon as book 3 is available, so I can read them as a completed storyline. Although this is book 2.5 of the Heartbreaker Bay series, I didn't feel lost or like I was missing anything by reading it first, each story could be read on its own, but the stories have a crossing storyline and characters. I LOVED IT! Although this was my first Jill Shalvis book, it won't be my last. I received an ARC via Tasty Book Tours through Edelweiss in exchange for an honest blog tour review.

Enjoyed reading the story of two former high school friends, Max & Rory, who are on a collision of fate pertaining to their past & future. Add, Carl, Max's lovable dog, a blizzard, & growing human emotions, it was a fast pace trip to rekindling friendship & more! Loved this short novella, but thought it should have had more added to the conclusion. It would've been nice to learn how their families accepted their sudden love connection, life after their trip, & outlook for their future. Hope future books in the series can address this. Great holiday story!

One Snowy Night was a wonderful novella length story from Jill Shalvis. I really enjoyed getting to see Rory and Max get their story. I love when there is a history between the hero and heroine. Add in a high school crush, and you are giving me a favorite trope. I loved both Max and Rory were insanely attracted to one another, yet hated the shadow from their past kept them initially from acting on said attraction. Even though One Snowy Night was a novella length story, I loved we got more background information on both Rory and Max and it honestly only made me love Rory even more as a character. She is such a strong person and I think with Max she found someone strong enough to love and support her. Max and Rory had amazing chemistry and while everything moved fast, I totally could see them working as a couple. One Snowy Night was an enjoyable and fast-paced story. I am a big fan of books in a series and find that Jill Shalvis is a master at pulling her readers into her series whether it in a full length story or a novella length story.
